Do this to the point that the dog is positively shooting to the floor every time you are creating the archway and saying ‘Lie down’.

Keep repeating and eventually start to take the archway out of the equation, instead just getting down to the dog’s level and saying ‘lie down’. Each time the dog is (properly) lying down, cheese them.

Repeat until the dog is completely understanding that ‘lie down’ means they will get cheese if they lie down.

Congratulations. You have just taught your dog to lie down on command.
